Birch sap vs. birch juice: what are the differences?

Written on May 10, 2025, by Pauline de Santarome

Birch is a plant with detoxifying properties that have been recognized since the Middle Ages, effectively contributing to intestinal well-being. Should we favor treatments based on birch juice or birch sap ? Birch juice is slightly less concentrated in active ingredients than birch sap, but its effects are slightly different, particularly due to the flavonoids contained in the leaves. Discover the differences between birch sap and birch juice.

Everything you need to know about birch sap

Birch trees grow in Arctic regions, but also on poor, siliceous soils.

It blooms from April to May and is most recognizable by its beautiful white bark. It can grow up to 40 meters tall.

Rich in natural active ingredients, it is particularly renowned for its draining properties.

Organic birch sap flows through the tree from the roots to the target at the end of winter, and is harvested in the spring by cutting a strip of bark from the tree.

Birch sap has been recognized for centuries for its many benefits:

🌿 First of all, it has a detoxifying effect. It rids the body of toxins by stimulating the emunctory organs (intestines, kidneys, liver), whose role is precisely to rid the body of accumulated waste. This detoxifying effect helps to cleanse the skin and improve digestion.

🌿 In addition, it slows down skin aging thanks to the many active ingredients it contains, which enable the body's cells to regenerate.

🌿 These active ingredients, such as zinc and potassium, contribute to the proper functioning of the body and help fight external aggressions. A birch sap treatment is therefore an excellent habit to adopt after winter.

🌿 Birch sap also has a purifying effect that helps cleanse the skin. It contributes to skin rejuvenation by boosting collagen production.

🌿 Rich in vitamins, birch sap is an essential health ally, appreciated by athletes and people with busy lifestyles!

Please note that pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to avoid birch sap treatments without their doctor's recommendation.

Everything you need to know about birch juice

Organic birch juice is made from the leaves of the tree, which are dissolved in boiling water.

Although less concentrated in active ingredients than birch sap, the juice from the tree has nevertheless proven its many virtues, particularly as an aid to weight loss and as a supplement to diets.

Like birch sap, birch juice is particularly valued for its draining properties: it purifies the body and contributes to a general feeling of well-being.

It is therefore recommended to consume it at the end of the season, to accompany the change in weather and light.

If you want to do a birch juice cleanse to accompany your diet, we recommend that you eat a healthy, balanced diet at the same time.

In addition, birch leaves are rich in trace elements and flavonoids. These active ingredients help to purify the skin and are recognized for their cleansing properties. They are ideal for treating acne-prone skin and helping to preserve the skin's youthful appearance.

Birch in dietary supplements

At Santarome Bio, we take special care when harvesting our birch sap.

The sap used in our dietary supplements is harvested in Finland using a process called "from tree to bottle." This process has received an innovation award in Finland. It allows the sap to be harvested without any contact with air.

This method has two advantages: first, the tree is not damaged during harvesting. Second, the product is not oxidized. This means that the qualities of our birch sap are fully preserved.

It is recommended to consume 70 milliliters of birch sap per day for one week.

Santarome Organic birch juice meets the same quality requirements.

Like many of our dietary supplements, we have chosen to combine it with a trio of buds to enhance its effects. The buds contained in our birch juice are hand-picked, organic, and wild.

🌱Ash budis a natural and active kidney stimulant, effectively complementing the draining properties of birch. It restores osteoarticular balance.

🌱Blackcurrant budstimulates the adrenal glands and therefore has stress-relieving properties. It is also an effective diuretic and a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Conclusion: Whether in juice or sap form, birch extract is excellent for purifying the body, boosting your immune system, and improving the condition of your skin and hair. A course of Santarome Bio dietary supplements will help you achieve these beneficial effects.
