How can you improve your stress resistance?

Written on December 3, 2025, by Pauline de Santarome

What is stress?

In 1956, physician Hans Selye was the first to refer to stress as a general adaptation syndrome.

Stress refers to a psychological mechanism of the body designed to cope with a situation considered to be stressful. Stress refers to anxiety related to external causes.

What are the different sources of stress?

There are different sources of stress and just as many ways to react to it. It can come from different sources, which may be physical, psychological, emotional, or social in nature. Stress can occur during happy or unhappy times. It can be temporary or chronic, and each individual reacts differently to sources of stress. In order to cope better, it is necessary to identify the sources of our stress so that we can deal with them more effectively.

How can I verbalize my stress?

Some people may not have the words to describe their emotions because they simply don't know what they are feeling. As long as I am unable to clearly identify my emotions, I cannot talk about them or understand the emotions of others. Verbalizing my stress will allow me to trace it back to its source. Verbalization will then allow me to become aware of my emotions, but also of the thoughts associated with them.

How can you find a balance between your professional and personal life?

Finding a balance between your work and personal life will help you better manage the stress you experience on a daily basis. To achieve this, we recommend that you first disconnect, as using technology has become second nature. In order to feel a real break between work and free time, disconnecting will allow you to better organize and manage your time. Devoting yourself to your loved ones and setting aside time for leisure activities will help you find a balance between your professional and personal life.

How can I rediscover pleasure?

When stress persists, the body becomes exhausted and the immune system weakens. We have the ability to take a step back and put stressful situations into perspective in order to generate positive emotions. Positive emotions help counteract the effects of stress.

To achieve this, you must learn to savor pleasure, that is to say:

  1. Slow down these activities

  2. Don't be tempted by futile solicitations

  3. Savoring moments of joy

  4. Get to the point

Relieving stress therefore means bringing pleasure into your life. It involves self-regulating the attention we pay to the present moment without allowing ourselves to be distracted by thoughts about the past and future.

How can plants affect our stress levels?

There are many ways to cope with stressful situations in our daily lives. We will focus on a natural solution: the use of plants. Plants have always been used to combat the discomforts of everyday life. Plants can have an impact on both our physical and mental well-being. In herbal teas, infusions, essential oils, and dietary supplements, the active ingredients in plants can have a beneficial effect on health and stress.

Santarome Bio has developed a formula based on organic saffron, organic hawthorn, organic ashwagandha, and organic rhodiola. This formula, available in capsule form, helps reduce nervousness and mental fatigue, thereby promoting resistance to stress.

What activities can help me relax?

Short-term stress can help you stay more productive and motivated. However, too much stress can have a negative impact on your mental or physical health. Finding an activity will help keep your mind occupied and relaxed. Here are some activities that will help reduce your stress:

  1. Coloring: Coloring books have become increasingly popular among adults. Coloring mandalas is considered a form of meditation, allowing you to clear your mind and focus solely on the present moment.
  2. Doing puzzles: Doing a puzzle helps you focus on the task at hand. This concentration allows you to be present, calm, and relaxed.
  3. Meditate: Training your mind to achieve a state of inner calm and serenity is a method that pays off in combating stress.
  4. Listen to soft music: Find a quiet, comfortable place, close your eyes, and let the music wash over you. Focus on your breathing and the only instruction to follow to combat moments of stress.

How can playing sports help me?

Physical activity increases your heart rate and activates neurotransmitters. This puts you in a good mood and releases muscle tension, relieving anxiety and reducing stress. Exercise improves self-esteem and distracts you from negative thoughts. Dopamine production increases in the brain stem and cortisol levels associated with stress drop at the same time.

How can my diet help me find balance?

Although there is no food that can combat or reduce stress, improving your diet can easily help you build up your resistance to fatigue and stress. Stress increases your need for nutrients, and magnesium, vitamins C and B, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids are nutrients that can help reduce stress levels. Here is a list of foods that are considered to be anti-stress foods:

  1. Eggs,
  2. Dairy products,
  3. Whole grains,
  4. Salmon,
  5. Spinach,
  6. Garlic,
  7. Honey and royal jelly.
