The benefits and properties of ginseng

Native to the forests of the Far East, Ginseng is an adaptogenic plant that rarely grows wild. Its main root, which can reach 20 cm in length, is a light yellow color with varying degrees of striation and a white, brittle flesh. The use of Ginseng dates back more than 4,000 years. Long used exclusively by the Chinese imperial family, it became the symbol of traditional Chinese medicine, earning it the name "Root of Life."

Origin and history of ginseng

This adaptogenic plant belongs to the Panax family, whose name means "cure-all." The word ginseng is derived from the Greek words " root " and " man ." This plant originated in the mountainous regions of China and Korea. It thrives in acidic, well-drained soils. Historically used in Asian countries to treat ailments and to invigorate the five organs of the body, it later became known and sought after in the Western world for its beneficial properties.
