Origin and history


Tagetes, also known asmarigold, is a perennial plant native to Mexico that has been used since pre-Columbian times. The Aztecs considered it a sacred flower, symbolizing the sun and regeneration. Introduced to Europe in the 16th century, it quickly became popular for its abundant flowering, bright colors, and multiple medicinal and aromatic uses. In modern herbal medicine, tagetes is recognized for its soothing, antioxidant, and protective properties for the skin and eyes.
