Origin and history
Tagetes, also known asmarigold, is a perennial plant native to Mexico that has been used since pre-Columbian times. The Aztecs considered it a sacred flower, symbolizing the sun and regeneration. Introduced to Europe in the 16th century, it quickly became popular for its abundant flowering, bright colors, and multiple medicinal and aromatic uses.
