Mountain pine

The mountain pine, or "lying pine," comes from central and southern Europe. A member of the Pinaceae family, it is a conifer with stiff needles measuring 2.5 to 7.5 cm. It is mainly found at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,500 m, but it is also present in peat bogs at lower altitudes, particularly in Central Europe.
