Origin and history


Marjoram, also known as "shell marjoram" or "garden oregano," is an aromatic plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. Native to the eastern Mediterranean basin and the Middle East, it has been used since ancient times in both cooking and traditional medicine. The Greeks and Romans considered it a sacred plant, a symbol of happiness and love, often incorporated into wedding crowns.
