Prune

Origin and history

The prune is the dried fruit of the Ente plum tree , a variety of plum ( Prunus domestica ) cultivated primarily in southwestern France, particularly in the Agen region. Its origins date back to antiquity, when plums were already consumed for their beneficial effects on digestion. The drying technique developed during the Middle Ages, allowing for better preservation of the fruit and the creation of the famous Agen prune , now renowned for its quality and nutritional richness.
