Origin and history
Immortelle, also known as Italian helichrysum , derives its name from the Greek words helios (sun) and chrysos (gold), referring to the golden color of its flowers that never fade—hence its nickname, the “immortal flower.” Native to the Mediterranean basin, it grows naturally in the dry, rocky, and sunny soils of Corsica, Sardinia, and southern France. Used since antiquity for its healing and purifying properties, it is now one of the most prized plants in aromatherapy and natural cosmetics.
