Immortal

Origin and history

Immortelle, also known as Italian helichrysum, takes its name from the Greek words helios (sun) and chrysos (gold), in reference to the golden color of its flowers, which never fade—hence its nickname, "immortal flower." Native to the Mediterranean basin, it grows naturally on the dry, rocky, sunny soils of Corsica, Sardinia, and southern France. Used since ancient times for its healing and purifying properties, it is now one of the most valuable plants in aromatherapy and natural cosmetics.
