Origin and history
Hibiscus, also known as Guinea sorrel or bissap flower , is a tropical plant native to West Africa. Used for centuries in African and Asian pharmacopoeias, it is a traditional beverage, a food, and a medicinal plant. The ancient Egyptians already drank hibiscus infusions to refresh themselves and promote vitality.
