Origin and history
Hibiscus, also known as Guinea sorrel or bissap flower, is a tropical plant native to West Africa. Used for centuries in African and Asian pharmacopoeias, it is a traditional beverage, food, and medicinal plant. The ancient Egyptians drank hibiscus infusions to refresh themselves and boost their vitality.
