Origin and history
The cranberry, also known as the caneberry , is a small red berry native to the colder regions of North America. Used for centuries by Native American peoples, it served as food, a natural remedy, and a dye. These populations used it, in particular, to treat wounds and prevent urinary tract infections. Over time, the cranberry has become an iconic fruit of the United States and Canada, often consumed as juice or dried fruit. Today, it is recognized worldwide for its benefits to urinary health.
