Boldo

Origin and history

Boldo is a small tree native to the mountainous and arid regions of Chile, where it grows naturally on sunny slopes. Used for centuries by the Andean peoples, it is considered a sacred plant for its digestive and liver-protective properties. Boldo leaves were traditionally infused after meals to soothe digestive upsets and the effects of overindulgence. Introduced to Europe in the 19th century, boldo quickly became a staple in herbal medicine for liver and digestive health. Even today, it is widely consumed as an infusion or extract to promote the body's natural detoxification.
