Origin and history
The apricot tree, botanically known as Prunus armeniaca , belongs to the large Rosaceae family. Originating in China, where it was already cultivated more than 4,000 years ago, it then spread to Armenia and later to the Mediterranean via trade routes. Its fleshy fruit, with its sweet and juicy pulp, quickly became a symbol of vitality and abundance in many cultures. Today, the apricot is widely appreciated for both its flavor and its nutritional benefits.
